Peter Bayer on the mound in the Mexican League

Pitching instruction from a former pro.

Private one-on-one lessons at NextGen Athletics in Centennial, Colorado, plus group training and team consulting. Data-driven development built on proper throwing mechanics, for pitchers and athletes of all ages, including position players and softball players.

Peter Bayer

I grew up in Parker, Colorado, and played at Regis Jesuit High School, where we won the 2011 state championship.

I pitched professionally from 2016 to 2022. The Tampa Bay Rays drafted me in the 9th round out of Cal Poly Pomona, and I also pitched in the Oakland Athletics and Cincinnati Reds organizations and in the Mexican League.

I trained at and worked for Driveline Baseball. I've been training pitchers of all ages since 2016, when my pro career started. I did it every off-season, and now I coach full time.

How lessons work

Every athlete works on what they need. It isn't one size fits all. I give honest feedback on where you are and tailor the work to your age, level, and focus.

  1. Warm up

Dynamic warm-up, arm warm-up and arm care with J-Bands, and a rotational warm-up with waterballs and med balls. The variability always changes based on the athlete.

  2. Warm-up throwing

Footballs, plyos, weighted baseballs, other throwing tools like bell clubs, and catch play.

  3. Individual work

Everything from long toss and building velocity to shaping off-speed and getting better at throwing. I work with all throwers, and each one works on what they need.

  4. Recovery and video

Post-throwing recovery with scap patterning, shoulder stability, mobility, forearm strength, and more, all tailored to the athlete. Plus video analysis of your throws.

Remote programming

Can't make it to Centennial? Remote programs follow the same structure as lessons: the warm-up and arm care routine, plyo and throwing work, and individual work built for you. Send video as you go, and I adjust the plan.

I also do team consulting and group training. Reach out below and we'll figure out what fits.

Book a lesson

Book online through NextGen Athletics, or call, text, or email with the pitcher's age and what you want to work on. Same goes for remote programming, team consulting, and group training.
